As we begin to settle once again, in our new but deeply familiar choir, and are wonderfully tucked away once again within the confines of our cherished cloister (finally!). And as we are so grateful to our Good Jesus and to all the wonderful people who have made and are making this possible, we pause now to take a look back to the experience we just went through. But we do it in a very special way, and through the very special eyes of those who were “with us” during the months of in-house exile when it was necessary to have Holy Mass within a “provisional chapel and choir.”
For the next few weeks, we will offer you the reflections of our dear and most beloved priests who celebrated Holy Mass for us during these past nine moths. What was it like for them to find themselves within the cloister of our Monastery? Something very few people actually experience. What graces and impressions has it left in them? We will share them with you as they come to us, beginning with our dear Fr. David Tedesche, our “first-responder.”
Angels dwell here…
Hello Mother! This is Fr. Dave Tedesche. Thank you for the "Memento" of my time offering Masses within the cloister!
Here is my reflection:
For months I had the privilege of offering Mass for the Sisters within their cloister. The physical space of the cloister itself has a certain sanctity about it that is palpable, at least to those who come into it who are used to living in the world. I can only guess this sanctity is the fruit of generations of lives utterly dedicated and handed over to the will of God. Angels dwell there. I always departed with a sense of spiritual refreshment. We are very blessed to have the sisters in our diocese. Only God knows how much spiritual good we all, both clergy and laity, receive as a result of their sacrifices and prayers.
